About Alex

Alex is a visual artist whose abstract works are defined by vibrant colour combinations. The colour blue and its derivatives in particular have featured prominently in her life and works: from her very first word (“purple“) to her current creative base Indigo, an art studio for differently-abled artists in Brussels. Being visually impaired, she sees large shapes where other people might indulge in details.
Alex has perceived the world from many different angles, having lived in Germany, the US, the UK as well as in India. Currently, she is based in Brussels, Belgium. In her opinion, the world is full of colours. And so are her paintings, for which she uses a wide range of painting and printing media such as acrylics, water colours, gouache, ink, natural pigments and gel-plate printing.
Viewers often commend Alex for her distinctive sense of colours and composition. Some have remarked, her works illicited daydreaming while others mentioned their mood improving while they were looking at Alex’s paintings. She attributes this to her optimism and cheerful disposition, which find their way into most of her art.
The artist herself often sees landscapes, sometimes people, sometimes music hovering through her works. However, all of her paintings leave abundant room for imagination for the viewer to ponder over their own interpretation.
Beyond Indigo, Alex finds inspiration and seeks to broaden her repertoire in the classes she takes at the Ateliers de la rue Voot in Brussels, like „Working with natural pigments“ and „Japanese calligraphy“. She is also much inspired by her travels, visits to museums, books, and the photos she takes. Fun fact, she hardly ever leaves the house without her camera.
So far her exhibitions have been on display in galleries in Dresden, Berlin, Cologne and Brussels. For her latest works, enjoy a tour around her website!
